The New Year…

The first blog of (no doubt) many; 2017 is the year I’ve decided to embrace technology. Well, give it a handshake, at least. After a busy December staging the latest musical, ‘1917’, I’m going back to the novel for January, tweaking the opening few chapters. And there are several fun jazz gigs on the horizon, starting with a cabaret-style evening in Wytham:

Beat the January blues with
LIVE gypsy swing & jazz!

The White Hart of Wytham

Manouche Etcetera are a versatile new trio whose repertoire includes everything from fiery gypsy dances to comic songs and classic swing numbers.

The three members of the trio have an enormous amount of experience in different ensembles and venues, and they now find themselves thrown together in Oxford by the fickle jazz-hand of fate…

There’ll be some tunes you know as well as some of the band’s original material, and with their variety of different line-ups they’ll take you everywhere from the sultry slums of Buenos Aires to 1920s London or Paris. The show takes place on Saturday 21st January at the Wytham Village Hall at 8.30pm.
